We can’t give up hope
14-06-2012
We are still feeling the blow of last night’s game against Germany. In the changing room it was very quiet and during the flight back from Kharkov to Krakow nobody said a word. It is unbelievably disappointing if you have set yourself a goal as a team, winning Euro12, and after two games you still don’t have any points.
Wesley Sneijder said ‘sorry’ against our fans yesterday and I feel the same way. It still is something amazing to see the Oranje fans travel all over the world to support us. You did everything to create an amazing atmosphere and unfortunately we didn’t turn your night into a party.
Now it’s back to business as usual, because how bad the results may be; we still have a chance to make it to the quarterfinal. And as long as we have the chance, we can’t give up hope. Up to now I’m not happy with my own performance yet, although the second game went better than against Denmark.
We still have one more game where we have to give everything we have. And if we defeat Portugal by two goals difference and Germany fulfils their job, winning against Denmark, who knows what might happen. It’s not over until it’s over!
